Michael V. Williams, PhD
Dr. Williams received his PhD in developmental psychology from the University of Southern California. Dr. Williams has consulted for more than 20 years in the area of organizational management and quality improvement. He was a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. as well as Planmetics, Inc. Of late, he has brought his knowledge and skill set to the area of healthcare systems, providing consulting services on issues of workplace functioning and medical quality systems. Dr. Williams has lectured nationally and internationally and has published in the areas of the disruptive physician, quality systems, chemical dependency, and sexual misconduct.
Betsy White Williams, PhD, MPH
Dr. Betsy White Williams earned her Master’s Degree in Public Health from Boston University and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with specialization in clinical aging from the University of Southern California. She completed her postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology at the University of California, San Diego. Her early research and clinical work were in the area of neuropsychological changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
For the past 13 years, her research and clinical foci have shifted to issues concerning high-accountability professionals. She has extensive experience working with high accountability professionals, in particular healthcare professionals. Her work with physicians includes addressing concerns related to clinical competency, substance use disorders, burnout, professional boundaries, disruptive behavior, and aging. In this work she has provided assessment, treatment and remedial education/treatment services. Currently she is the Clinical Director at the Professional Renewal Center® an assessment and treatment facility in Lawrence, Kansas.
Phil Flanders, PhD
Dr. Flanders is the Director of Psychological services at PRC®. He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University. He completed his internship at the V.A. Medical Center in Tucson with clinical foci and training in neuropsychology and geropsychology. He has been practicing in Kansas for more than 30 years. Dr. Flanders has spent the majority of his time working as the director of multidisciplinary teams. He has significant experience and expertise assessing and treating high-achieving/ high-accountability professionals within an intensive outpatient setting. He has expertise and training in EMDR, hypnotherapy and mindfulness. He was the Director of Psychological services at an inpatient addiction treatment program. He has lectured throughout the state of Kansas on the topic of burnout in physicians. Prior to joining the PRC® clinical staff, he had the opportunity to treat returning service members from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lois Johnson, LSCSW
Ms. Johnson is a clinical social worker with 16 years of counseling experience in mental health, medical health, and educational settings. She received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Kansas. Her clinical experience includes individual and group therapy with clients experiencing a diverse set of needs, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relational conflict, and issues related to workplace conflict, communication problems, previous trauma, and personality traits. She is an experienced presenter and workshop facilitator at both local and regional levels.
Ms. Johnson is also an ordained clergy in the United Methodist Church where she has served on the clergy credentialing board, and chaired the Commission on Diversity and Advocacy, which is active in issues involving gender, ethnicity, culture, and ecumenism.
